Silber Prediction: GOP Corruption Tail Wags The Iran War Dog
The June Prediction: "If, come September or early October, Bush's political advisors think it likely that the Democrats will take over the House and/or the Senate, and if they seriously fear the investigations that the Democrats might pursue, I think it very likely that an attack on Iran will occur before the election. It may be preceded by a phony international "incident" of some kind involving an attack on U.S. forces or U.S. "interests" more generally, and responsibility will quickly be laid at Iran's door. Or, it might be another terrorist attack here in the U.S. itself.

The October Follow-Up: "If the fallout from the Foley scandal makes it appear inevitable that the Democrats will take the House, the Iran card may be the surest one, and perhaps the only one, that the Bush administration has left to play. "The Chief of Staff for the current NRCC Chair, a key GOP House leadership position, tried on behalf of Foley -- after he knew of the IMs -- to block the public from learning about the IMs by offering ABC an exclusive interview with Foley in exchange for ABC's agreement to conceal those messages. That means that the top aide to one of the Republican House leaders, as recently as last Friday, tried to suppress the most incriminating and important facts regarding this scandal. Isn't that the very definition of 'cover-up'?"

White House Hid Info On Key Meeting From 9-11 Commission?
"A mixture of shock, anger, and sadness overcame me when I read ... about a special surprise visit that George Tenet and his counterterrorism chief Cofer Black made to Condi Rice ... on July 10, 2001 ... They went over top-secret intelligence pointing to an impending attack and 'sounded the loudest warning' to the White House of a likely attack on the U.S. ... it is shocking that the administration failed to heed such an overwhelming alert from the two officials in the best position to know ... The Commission interviewed Condoleezza Rice ... George Tenet ... and Cofer Black ... privately and publicly. All of them were obligated to tell the truth. Apparently, none of them described this meeting, the purpose of which clearly was central to the Commission’s investigation. Moreover, document requests to both the White House and to the CIA should have revealed the fact that this meeting took place ... Was it covered up? It is hard to come to a different conclusion."
